To Our Community

For years Central Georgia Health System has been composed of very talented and caring people committed to
providing the highest-quality health care for the citizens of central and south Georgia. We remain dedicated to our
mission, despite the evolving nature of health care in this country requiring us to explore more efficient and innovative
ways to provide world-class care. One path we have chosen is to work collaboratively with other health care providers
in the region. Through a key partnership with Peach Regional Medical Center, we will operate a new, state-of-the-art
25-bed hospital in Peach County beginning in 2013. We welcome the hospital staff and residents of that community,
who will now have access to a high level of coordinated care offering close-to-home convenience integrated with
  sophisticated regional services.

We have made many strides in achieving or strengthening other partnerships during these trying times, enabling all
parties involved better use of their resources. Our long-standing partnership with Mercer University School of
Medicine regarding our physician resident and fellowship program is expanding and remains strong. In the summer of
2011 we became an esteemed affiliate in the University of Alabama at Birmingham's comprehensive cancer care
network, allowing us broader access to best practices of care, pioneering clinical trials, and continuing education for
nurses and physicians. We are excited about the other partners like Georgia Health Sciences University concerning the
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist program, which begins fall 2013. We have coordinated with Georgia Health
Sciences Medical Center (GHSMC) on the Georgia Regional Academic Community Health Information Exchange, or
GRAChIE, a program which enables our health care providers to access records from multiple providers and facilities,
thus improving quality of care, eliminating costly and redundant testing, and reducing treatment delays and hassles
related to paper medical records and reports. We continue to develop our ALS Clinic at Central Georgia Rehabilitation
Hospital with GHSMC and The ALS Association of Georgia as we care for this special population affected by
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We do not take lightly our responsibility to serve the larger region, and I believe this
mindset sets us apart from other health care providers.

During almost 40 years of employment at CGHS I have seen many wonderful deeds and met many great people that
only further this sentiment. From the medical staff and clinicians who directly care for the patients to the volunteer
boards of directors who strategically plan business to the many people in support roles, The Medical Center of Central
Georgia and its parent organization CGHS have been pillars of the community. As I announce my retirement this year, I
have the utmost confidence that the future of our health care entities is one of stability and continuity.

This transition will not interrupt the long path of progress created before me nor the one laid out ahead of us. Consider
some of what we accomplished as recently as 2011 – we improved patient satisfaction in the emergency room and
urgent care experience with the launch of InQuicker, earned a prestigious award and recognition for quality stroke care
and for excellence in home health services, and opened a renovated medical intensive care unit creating a more
family-friendly experience and paving the way for the future re-design of our critical care units.

Whether it is clinical quality, finances or strategic planning and direction, the boards of directors and leadership are
stable, assured and committed to a vision for CGHS and MCCG. The staff, clinical and non-clinical alike, are devoted
to world-class care and service excellence to central and south Georgia communities. I am proud of this organization
and leave it in good hands.

  Thank you,

  A. Donald Faulk
